Celebration, Florida - Another Disney-Built Community
Celebration, Florida is a master-planned community that was created and built by the Disney Development Company in the mid-1990's and located about 5 miles south of the Magic Kingdom and Walt Disney Resort. The concept that Disney brought to developing Celebration, Florida was to design a close-knit, low-density community with an early 1900's architectural style, look and feel, but also having futuristic and ultra-modernistic architecture mixed in among the buildings, all in keeping with true Disney style.
The community of Celebration is actually a collection of small villages centered around the larger main village and the town center of Celebration Village, which has condos, apartments, hotels, restaurants, banks, a movie theater and many other businesses to serve all the residents' needs. Celebration Village is even home to the new Stetson University Center at Celebration, Florida.
A Brief History Of Celebration, Florida
The first phase of building Celebration was completed in 1996 and included Celebration Village, West Village and Lake Evalyn. This first phase consisted of almost 500 home sites, with about 76 townhomes and almost 700 condominiums being built.
North Village was the second phase of development, with over 300 home sites and approximately 300 condominiums, followed by the third phase of development which was South Village with 600 home sites and townhouses and approximately 500 condominiums. Next was phase four, East Village and Aquila Reserve, with a combination of over 500 homes and townhouses and approximately 70 condominiums.
Current development to date was completed with the addition of Artisan Park, with over 600 homes and condominiums. Now, there are approximately 9,000 full-time residents and approximately 4,060 homes and condominiums in Celebration, spread out over a ten-square mile area.
Celebration Village
The town center in Celebration Village is built fronting Lake Evalyn and has an expansive, beautiful waterfront area with restaurants, bars and cafe's, all having spectacular waterfront views to enjoy while eating, drinking or just relaxing.
If that weren't enough, the town center in Celebration Village also has Market Street and adjoining streets which are throwbacks to the charming small towns of yesteryear, with trees and lamp posts lining the streets and that wonderful early 1900's architecture with bold, modernistic buildings mixed in.
The town center in Celebration Village is within easy walking distance to most of the other villages and is designed as a gathering place for visitors and residents alike. The design is meant to encourage people to walk, mingle, shop and simply enjoy the architectural beauty, fun and entertainment offered in the downtown area.
All this is in keeping with the true Disney magic which includes leaf-like confetti shooting out of lamp posts in the fall to simulate falling leafs. At Christmas time, these lamp posts have soap suds that look exactly like snow pouring out of them and filling the streets, all while Christmas carols play from the sidewalks. Celebration, Florida truly is an amazing place to live, work and play.
The Other Villages Of Celebration, Florida
Besides Celebration Village and the town center, Celebration has eight other villages that surround the main village and town center. Each village has a different flavor, environment and feel, so there is sure to be a village and a home you will love in Celebration.
West Village
West Village was the second village to be built and has 95 homes that are a mixture of Village, Cottage and some larger Estate Homes. West Village is home to Celebration School, a K-8 elementary school, as well as the Celebration Golf Course.
Lake Evalyn
Lake Evalyn was the third village to be built and of course features the beautiful Lake Evalyn. The village consists of 59 homesites on quaint, narrow streets and has primarily Garden Homes with a mixture of some Cottage and Village Homes sprinkled in.
North Village
North Village was the fourth village to be built and is located close to the entrance of Celebration and 192. North Village has 367 homes of varying styles as well as townhouses and condominiums. North Village is home to a neighborhood pool as well as a park and pavilion area for you to enjoy.
South Village
South Village was the fifth village to be built and is located just past the downtown area, on the right hand side of Celebration Avenue. It has 552 homes with many of the same home types found in the previous villages, along with bungalows and condominiums. South Village is home to Spring Park, which has a large pool, a clubhouse and a nice playground area.
Roseville Corner
Roseville corner is next and is located on the left side of Celebration Avenue, near the entrance to Artisan Park. It is very quaint with a small section of 99 homes featuring free-standing and attached bungalow-style homes. It draws its name from the lovely rose bushes that fill the landscape in this beautiful, small village.
East Village
East Village is located past the downtown area of Celebration Village, on the left hand side of Celebration Avenue and is one of the more secluded villages, with parts of it being a 20 minute walk to the town center.
Aquila Reserve
Aquila Reserve is located on the left side of Celebration Avenue, near the entrance to Artisan Park and behind East Village, with 78 homes. It has 78 homes of various styles, including Manor Homes, but this village has no condominiums or townhouses. Aquila Reserve is aptly named as it is surrounded by beautiful wooded areas.
Artisan Park
Artisan Park is located at the very end of Celebration Avenue, and it is still under development. It will have a total of 300 single-family homes, plus 50 townhouses, and 300 condominiums. It has a private clubhouse and pool, which cannot be used by residents of the other villages, but residents of Artisan Park can use all the other pools and facilities throughout Celebration.
